So You Want To Start A Franchise?

Businesses are created to generate money. Many hopefuls start their business franchises only to find their hopes crumble within the first three years. Not surprising considering that no one has the power of foresight in the ever-changing world of business. What if you could play Nostradamus and get ahead in the game before you ever set foot on the field? A recent Gallup Poll given to business franchise owners denotes that over 90% of them considered themselves to be a ’success’ and over three-quarters of them would not think twice about engaging into a franchise again! While attempting to spin your own business you are going to be working in the dark, but if one was to invest into a business franchise opportunity, investment and expenditure issues can be researched and better projected. A passionate business-minded person can bring greater success to an already stellar franchise. The information and time is there already to take advantage of due to the pre-existence of the franchise; there is only opportunity and room for evolution!

Consult a Consultant. Consulting services are free, so get help helping your business. A seasoned consultant will address integral questions in order for you to shape your main objectives involving the franchises values, interests, goals, aspirations, etc. These professionals will only supplement your knowledge of what is to be expected and what can be made possible.

Develop a development plan. One buying into an already successful franchise may feel the need to carry on tradition and the successful ‘formula,’ but buying into an already pre-existing business should not obscure one’s vision of making the business ‘their own.’ How are you going to promote your franchise? What will be your sales strategy? How are you going to address customers and employees? Create your own vision of what your business is going to be.

Make sure nothing will shirk your work. Being your own boss is an exciting thought, but this does not mean the absence of work, it means you will be the one telling yourself there is a lot of work to be done. Some things that are not immediately thought of amidst the excitement: family sacrifices, social sacrifices, amount of business experience, sources of insight, etc.

A financial audit ought to do it. Make sure you know the financial waters that you are about to dive into. You should have a definite understanding of your complete risk. Different people have different comfort levels and this is an important aspect to ponder before beginning. Think about how you are going to fund the business (what kind of loan), liquid cash resources, and savings to fall back on while the franchise flourishes.

The right answers come from the right questions. Is your business in the right area? What is the immediate potential of your market? Is this vastly changing? Who is my competition? Who will be my customers? These obviously are all very important questions to consider from the start. The more pertinent questions you ask pertaining to your situation, the more efficient and successful you and your business will be.

You need position players. Just as a consultant will serve as a beneficial player as part of your venture, an experienced financial attorney will be an advantageous addition. Business and industry contracts and agreements are laborious and meticulous; hire the specific person for the specific job.

Learn the process don’t obsess. The perfect situation will exist at different times for different people, so constant research, evaluation, and reevaluation are going to be a part of the process. Once you have the orchestrated the core of your franchise, then energy can be devoted to its evolution.

Franchise with the wise. Being your own boss is one of the outstanding benefits of starting your own small business franchise, but don’t forget that being a boss does not mean having all the answers. Work hard to build a relationship with the franchiser. A major reason why franchising is a successful business venture, is because it has already been done. Complementing your insights with the consultant and franchiser will only increase your chances of success.

Pakistan already has a representation of DHL, Skynet and Fedex.
There is also a fairly big local company TCS. Leopard is trailing behind.

But there is still room for a medium size company which could offer competitive rates.

I would recommend you not to use DHL. They are the worst courier service in the world. Type in "DHL sucks" in Google and you will see the results.
They lost my huge suitcase. Then agreed to pay a small compensation and then did not even send me that. I have emailed, phoned, faxed, and sent letters and get nothing back. Unfortunately I am in US now and the package was sent from DHL Germany.
DHL is going down fast – stay away
